Managing megadata as a developoer

There's no doubt that development has gone just plain bananas.  I remember writing Fortran code back in highschool (that always threw an exception, but not the point), and having to program some sort of strange two-colored spinning pinwheel in an excel sheet back in college (something about float points, it didn't make a ton of sense to me at the time and I still struggle to see the validity of the assignment...). Point is, once up on a time, anyone could open up a notepad, throw a little "print(hello, world!)" (<- That's Python, btw) together, and be on their way to user-level Devops.
These day programing languages have gone absolutely insane, not to mention there are about 8,000 of them to choose from. And I'm not just talking about big-budget million line MMORPG games that make no sense and aren't actually fun to play at all. No, I'm talking that coding in general has gone just nutso...
